Amboss Tattoo

Amboss Tattoo has been part of Gelsenkirchen's tattoo scene since 2016, founded by Flo Ziebart and Oliver Steinkrüger, known as Buddy Olli. The two founders share a friendship of nearly fifteen years along with a common outlook on work ethic. Flo trained at Amazon Tattoo in Oberhausen starting in 2004, receiving what would today be considered a classical apprenticeship, with tattoo artist Piotrek Taton as a major influence on his path. Buddy Olli, originally trained as a photographer and previously working for tattoo magazines, began tattooing in 2007, starting out at New Hope Tattoo in Bochum before moving into full-time tattooing at Amazon Tattoo alongside Flo.

Both artists built their experience through years working in established studios, guest spots, and appearances at conventions, experience that now shapes the work done for every client at the studio. The name Amboss, meaning anvil, comes from a nickname carried by Flo's uncle and was chosen as a symbol of being down-to-earth and creative, qualities the founders see as fitting the character of their home region, the Ruhrgebiet. Rooted in that same straightforward, grounded spirit, the studio continues to serve tattoo clients in Gelsenkirchen today.
