MorningStar Tattoo is a custom tattoo studio located near downtown Rapid City, South Dakota, at the corner of 4th and Quincy Street. The studio was founded by Alexander Wolff, a Rapid City native who earned his Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts from Black Hills State University and honed his craft across the midwest and west coast before returning home. The shop is built around creating deep relationships with clients, fostering collaboration, and influencing tattoo art both locally and nationally, with a mission centered on unique custom artistry paired with genuinely attentive customer service.
The artist team brings a wide range of specialties together under one roof. Jazmine Bennett, a member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe with over ten years of professional experience, works in watercolor, bold color, neo-traditional, and illustrative styles. Mallory Painter, based in the Black Hills since 2019, creates detailed black-and-gray and color pieces spanning animal portraits, botanicals, insects, and pop culture themes. Together with Wolff, the artists cover a broad creative spectrum for clients seeking custom work. The studio also hosts an annual client appreciation and anniversary party and sells branded apparel through its own online shop. It's open Tuesday through Saturday, noon to 7pm.
