The shop is home to five tattoo artists and two skilled piercers, giving clients a range of styles to choose from whether they're getting a first small piece or starting a full sleeve. Johnny, the shop owner, studied art at DMACC in Des Moines before turning his passion into a career, and the family connection carries through the business today, with daughter Megan O'Connor serving as lead piercer.
Each artist works out of a private studio, keeping the environment comfortable and personal for every client. The shop is wheelchair accessible, service-animal friendly, and known for treating customers like part of the family. Piercing services are handled on a walk-in basis, while tattoo appointments begin with an in-person consultation. Walk-in tattoos are also welcome and accommodated first come, first served. With decades of experience and a close-knit team, Wildside remains a fixture of downtown Cedar Rapids for both tattooing and body piercing.
