Tattoo Shop San Francisco, California
Black Heart Tattoo
177 Valencia Street, San Francisco, CA 94103
Black Heart Tattoo has operated in San Francisco's Mission District since 2004, building a reputation as a welcoming neighborhood shop rather than a sterile studio. The crew is made up of a large roster of resident artists whose combined experience spans more than 100 years, giving clients access to multi-generational talent under one roof. The shop is known for custom tattoo work and a genuine passion for art, with artists covering a wide range of subject matter and approaches, from bold blackwork and color pieces to intricate detailed imagery, each tattooer bringing an individual style and specialty to the collective.
Beyond its resident lineup, the studio regularly hosts guest artists from around the world, giving regulars and visitors alike rotating opportunities to book with tattooers not normally based in San Francisco. The space is open every day from noon to 8pm, and both walk-ins and scheduled appointments are accommodated depending on the artist. Service is offered in Spanish as well as English, reflecting the shop's community-minded, inclusive atmosphere. With decades of continuous operation in the same Mission District location, it remains a fixture of the city's tattoo scene, valued for its craftsmanship and the camaraderie among its artists.
