Sacred Rose Tattoo is one of the first woman-owned and operated tattoo shops in the Bay Area, founded by Karen Roze in San Francisco in 1998 after she completed a six-year apprenticeship at the city's Picture Machine studio, building on a fine art degree from CCAC. The business outgrew its original storefront and relocated to Berkeley, California in 2006, later moving into a larger space in 2018. For more than 25 years, the studio has provided custom, quality tattoo work to clients traveling from around the world, establishing itself as a longstanding Bay Area favorite.
The current Berkeley studio features six large work stations, a private station, and a spacious, comfortable waiting area designed to keep clients at ease throughout their visit. The shop is staffed by a team of award-winning artists with professional art degrees who bring a strong dedication to tattooing as a fine art form, alongside several non-resident guest artists who round out the roster. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, paired with attentive customer service that has helped the studio maintain its reputation over decades in the industry.
