The studio traces its roots to Santa Cruz, where it began under the name Anubis Warpus before relocating to San Francisco and eventually taking its current form in 2003. It was also the first tattoo shop to combine body piercing with tattooing, helping merge two practices that had previously operated separately.
The shop specializes in clean, bold American traditional and custom tattoo work, alongside a full range of body piercing services and basic and decorative jewelry for new and healed piercings. Walk-ins are always welcome, and the studio is open every day from noon to 7pm, with piercing specialists available on a rotating weekly schedule. Over the decades, hundreds of thousands of locals and visitors have come through its doors, drawn by an approach built on accessibility and craftsmanship for every budget.
