Anatomic tattoo shop

Anatomic Tattoo Shop has been part of Funchal's creative landscape since 1996, when founder Virgílio Baptista opened it as the first tattoo studio on the island of Madeira. Known especially for Maori-style work, the studio now operates across three locations in the city, including spaces on Largo Severiano Ferraz and Rua 5 de Outubro, each keeping a traditional tattoo-parlor décor. The team has grown into a large, diverse group of artists covering styles ranging from realism, black and grey, and tribal to geometric, dotwork, mandalas, fine line, old school, and new school. Alongside tattooing, the studio also offers a full range of piercing services.

Open six days a week in the heart of Funchal, Anatomic combines decades of experience with an emphasis on training new professionals and shaping public acceptance of tattooing as an art form. Its artists have represented the studio at international tattoo conventions and bring backgrounds spanning Portugal, Ukraine, and beyond. Beyond the studio floor, the team is active in community initiatives such as "Sem-Abrigo Não Têm Cara," Movember, and "Vidas Suspensas," giving new looks to homeless individuals in Funchal. This mix of technical range, longstanding local reputation, and social engagement defines its approach to tattooing.
