José Pestana Tattoo Studio

José Pestana Tattoo Studio sits in the heart of Funchal, Madeira, specializing in fine line, minimalist and custom tattoo work. José Pestana has more than 12 years of experience crafting hair-thin single-needle linework, delicate botanical and script pieces, and soft micro-realism, drawing every design from scratch rather than working from flash sheets. The studio caters heavily to travellers, offering souvenir tattoos inspired by the island itself — from the cliffs of Cabo Girão to strelitzia flowers, levada motifs and Funchal's coordinates — designed, drawn and healed before visitors fly home.

The studio welcomes both locals and tourists, with walk-ins accepted for smaller fine line pieces and appointments typically arranged within 48 hours of first contact. English, Portuguese, Spanish and French are all spoken on-site, making the experience easy for international guests. Licensed by the Madeira health authority, the space uses single-use needles and sterilised, medical-grade equipment, and is described as modern, clean and welcoming. José Pestana focuses on patience, precision and clean, timeless work, aiming to give every client a relaxed, professional experience and a lasting, elegant memory of their time on the island.
