Mourning Star Tattoo

Mourning Star Tattoo is a custom tattoo studio in Newport, South Wales, founded in 2023 after starting out as a merch side project alongside its founder Kimi's tattooing career. The studio has since grown into a small team, with tattoo artists Russ and Mark joining Kimi after years of working together in the industry. Between them, the artists cover a vast array of tattooing styles, making the studio a well-rounded choice for custom work of many different kinds.

Beyond the tattooing itself, the studio positions itself as a welcoming, friendly and safe space, with a particular commitment to being inclusive for LGBTQ+ clients. It uses only vegan products throughout the tattooing and aftercare process, aiming for the best possible healing results. Alongside custom tattoos, the shop sells artwork and merchandise made by its own artists, plus handmade jewellery and aftercare products. Visitors are encouraged to drop by for a chat or to browse the merch, reflecting the relaxed, community-driven atmosphere the team has built in Newport.
