The Electric Umbrella Tattoo Studio

The Electric Umbrella is a tattoo studio in Nanaimo, British Columbia, located in the city's Old City Quarter. Established in 2011 by Russ Morland, the studio is now under the ownership and guidance of Julie Dives and operates as a collective bringing together some of the island's most skilled tattoo artists, including Sean Anderson, Hailly Martin, Ross Gray, Katrina Holmes, and Tristen Cathcart. The team works closely with clients to design custom pieces tailored to each person's ideas, focusing on collaborative, one-on-one creative process rather than off-the-shelf flash work.

Beyond the artistry, the studio is built around creating a safe, inclusive space where clients of all backgrounds can feel comfortable expressing themselves without judgment. The atmosphere balances serious craftsmanship with a lighthearted, welcoming energy, aiming to make every visit enjoyable as well as artistically satisfying. Clients can expect good humor and great vibes alongside dedicated attention to their custom tattoo vision. The studio is open to adults only, with no exceptions, and is closed on Wednesdays. Those looking for thoughtful, personalized tattoo work in a friendly, judgment-free environment will find a dedicated home at this Nanaimo collective.
