This design's rounded shield shape suits the upper back, chest plate, or thigh where its symmetry can be centered and appreciated as a whole. The mirrored composition also works well on the forearm or calf if slightly elongated. At smaller sizes the scrollwork framing and stippled shading on the wings would blur into a grey mass, so this piece needs real estate to breathe.
