Black Squirrel Tattoo

Black Squirrel Tattoo has been a fixture in midtown Omaha since 2010, originally opening on the corner of 40th and Farnam Street in the Blackstone district before relocating a few blocks away to its current Midtown home near Aksarben Village, Blackstone, and the historic Dundee neighborhood. The studio is owned and operated by original co-founder Mel Judkins, who has run the Omaha location since 2016. A team of resident artists—including Mel Judkins, Kenny Nguyen, Shari Post, Shira Sterling, Colt Falewitch, Jake Parsons, Carl Martin, Claire Goecke, and Jaime Craig—handles everything from walk-ins to full custom tattoo work, with complimentary consultations offered to guests planning a piece.

The space is designed to feel clean, comfortable, and inviting, with unique decor, open floor seating, and private rooms for clients who prefer more discretion. Proper sterilization and certifications are maintained throughout the shop, and visitors are welcome to stop in simply to browse an art collection gathered from tattoo artists around the world. Emphasis is placed on personal, professional service alongside a strong commitment to quality craftsmanship, whether clients are seeking traditional designs, custom artwork, or new concepts developed directly with the artists on staff.
