The Torchbearer Tattoo has served Providence, Rhode Island since 2014, when founders Chris Cautillo and Ron Wells opened the shop with a simple goal: a safe, comfortable environment where exceptional artists could do their best work. The studio moved into its current two-floor, 2,500-square-foot home on Westminster Street in 2017, giving up to nine tattoo artists room to work at once while keeping the space feeling personal rather than crowded. Chris became sole owner in 2022, carrying the same ethics forward, and for over a decade the shop has served clients throughout Providence, southern Massachusetts, and eastern Connecticut, hosting guest artists from across the country alongside its resident team.
With six resident artists and more than 120 years of combined experience, the studio offers a wide range of tattoo styles along with walk-ins, free consultations, and custom appointments. Every client is supported from initial consultation through design, application, and aftercare, with an emphasis on welcoming newcomers and answering questions along the way. Beyond tattooing, the shop hosts artist seminars, painting workshops, and holiday events to bring its community together, reflecting a mission built on creativity, professionalism, and respect.
