Hot Spot Tattoo & Piercings has served Iowa tattoo enthusiasts for 25 years, now located in downtown Iowa City. The shop was founded by three brothers in Muscatine, Iowa, later spent over a decade in Coralville building its reputation, and one of the original founders still runs it today as owner, tattoo artist, and piercer. The studio specializes in custom tattoo work across many styles, along with body piercings and quality body jewelry, always working closely with clients to bring their vision to life. Staff are happy to answer questions in person, and Spanish is spoken at the shop.
Lead artist Jerry "Fine Line" Mendoza has been tattooing for 25 years, drawing early inspiration from the streets of Chicago and Oakland before moving through tagging, painting, and airbrushing on his way into tattooing in Davenport, Muscatine, and the Iowa City/Coralville area. He is professionally trained and certified, with experience across traditional, black & white, blackwork, portraits, fine line, realism, patchwork, illustrative, color work, and blacklight tattooing. Visitors are welcome to stop by, look around, and talk with the staff about tattoo and piercing services at this longtime, family-rooted shop serving Iowa City and the surrounding communities.
