Funky Rooster Tattoo and Art Gallery
73 South Grove Avenue, Elgin, IL 60120
Funky Rooster Tattoo and Art Gallery is a hip and colorful custom tattoo studio and art gallery located in the heart of downtown Elgin, Illinois, just 35 miles from Chicago and a short walk from the Grand Victoria Casino and the Metra train station. As a licensed professional tattoo shop, it takes great pride in maintaining a clean, friendly environment, with artists dedicated to the quality of their tattoos and the happiness of every client. Custom tattoo work is provided by resident artists Jose Manuel and Sarah Mooney, who also welcome visitors to stop in and chat. The shop mostly operates by appointment to ensure safety and cleanliness, but accommodates same-day walk-ins when the schedule allows, and services are available in both English and Spanish.
Beyond tattooing, the space doubles as a working art gallery, displaying original paintings by its artists that are available for purchase alongside art prints, unique jewelry, Jose Manuel-designed t-shirts, Mexican folk art, and stickers. This blend of custom tattoo artistry and local art makes the studio a colorful creative hub in downtown Elgin, open Tuesday through Saturday for those seeking both tattoo work and original artwork under one roof.
