Shield Maiden Tattoo is a woman-owned-and-run tattoo studio in the downtown area of Longmont, Colorado. Opened by Rachel in May of 2022, the shop has grown to a team of five resident artists. The space is designed with big windows, natural light, plants, and gold accents, filled with artwork, rainbows, music, and touches of fairy magic. Clients work directly with the artists to collaborate on unique, custom pieces, with the team bringing their own expertise and guidance to the process while making sure each tattoo reflects what the client envisions.
The studio describes itself as queer, POC, women/womxn, witch, trans, genderqueer/nonconforming, and all-walks-of-life friendly, and it welcomes clients who have had difficult experiences elsewhere in the tattoo industry or whose bodies have been marginalized. Consent is treated as central to every session, with attention paid to client comfort and safety throughout. The shop also emphasizes accessibility for folks with limited mobility and aims to be a safe space for all genders, sexualities, and identities. Walk-ins can be accommodated by calling or texting ahead, and appointments are booked directly through each artist's individual page.
