Gonzo.does.tattoos brings custom tattoo artistry to Fernandina Beach, Florida, under the hand of artist Joe, who goes by Gonzo. He specializes in blackwork, ornamental, fine line, and neo-traditional tattoo styles, working closely with each client through a required consultation to nail down placement, references, and design details before any needle touches skin. The approach is personal and collaborative, aiming for both a tattoo the client will love and a genuinely good experience from first meeting to finished piece.
Gonzo is a veteran, having served for eight years as a submariner in the Navy before transitioning into tattooing after leaving the service in 2019. Raised in northeastern Oklahoma within a large family, he brings a strong sense of Mexican and Native American culture into his identity as both artist and host. The studio has a welcoming, come-as-you-are atmosphere, and visitors are invited to stop by and say hello even if they aren't booking a tattoo. Community, family, and craftsmanship remain central to how the shop operates day to day.
