Paired crowns representing a king and queen are chosen by couples, often as matching tattoos, to symbolize partnership, mutual respect, or shared authority within a relationship. The gold and dark blue crown reads as traditionally masculine, the pink and rose crown as feminine, though many people mix or swap these associations. Crowns generally also carry standalone meanings of self-worth, achievement, or sovereignty regardless of the pairing.

Where it sits

Each crown has a wide, rounded base tapering to a narrower top, making them suit forearms, upper arms, or calves where that shape has room to sit naturally. As a pair they work well on matching left and right placements, such as both forearms or the backs of both hands. Shrinking either design too much will blur the jewel facets, filigree scrollwork, and rose petal layering that give them their detail.

Making it yours

Ask an artist for any of these.

  • Remove the roses from the queen's crown for a simpler jeweled band
  • Change the ruby and emerald gems to a single stone colour
  • Add a name or date banner beneath each crown
  • Scale down and drop the cross finial for a smaller minimal version
  • Swap the navy velvet cap for a different colour to match skin tone preference
