Many choose it for patriotic reasons, others simply for the strength and power the pose conveys.
Where it sits
This is a wide, symmetrical composition with the body as a vertical anchor, making it well suited to the back, chest or a large forearm panel where the wingspan has room to extend outward. It also works well on the thigh or shin if angled to follow the limb. Shrinking it down for a wrist or small calf piece would lose the fine feather etching and the taloned feet detail that give it depth.
