Sailors Grave Tattoo Gallery has been a fixture of San Diego's tattoo scene since the establishment first opened in the early 1970s under the name the Tattoo Gallery. It is owned and operated by Gary Koblis, who brings 26 years of tattooing experience to the shop, and was voted San Diego's best tattoo shop of 2024. The studio's artists work across a wide range of styles, including American Traditional, Japanese, Black & Gray, Fine Line, and Script, giving clients access to a versatile team capable of handling both bold classic imagery and delicate detailed work under one roof.
Located in San Diego, California, the shop keeps an open-door approach with walk-ins welcome seven days a week. It's open daily, Monday through Sunday, with extended hours Friday and Saturday, making it easy to stop by and get tattooed without an appointment. The current artist lineup includes Jadd Mcelroy, Mikey Albritton, and Josh Ortiz alongside owner Gary Koblis. Carrying forward decades of local history while continuing to build its reputation, the gallery remains a go-to destination for traditional and contemporary tattoo work alike in the heart of San Diego.
