Studio 258 Tattoo & Gallery sits in historic downtown Newton, North Carolina, just one block from the Catawba County Museum. The shop doubles as a full-time art gallery, showcasing the work of local and national artists alongside its tattooing services. Housed in a 65-year-old building reimagined with an open, modern interior, the space still allows for privacy when clients need it. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, with a focus on collaboration between artist and client to bring each person's vision for their body art to life.
The studio was opened by Margaret Moose, a North Carolina native and painter who trained at UNCG before tattooing in Wilmington, in Honolulu at the well-known Skin Deep Tattoo, and later at Ace Custom Tattoo in Charlotte. She now tattoos alongside her daughters, Rebecca Barnhardt and Virginia Barnhardt, and artist Steven Busey. Conveniently located near Charlotte, Asheville, and the Triad area, the shop is open five days a week. Prospective clients are encouraged to call or stop in to discuss their ideas directly with one of the artists.
