Fun City Tattoo is the oldest tattoo shop in Manhattan, located in the East Village on St. Mark's Place in New York City. The shop has been part of the neighborhood since the 1970s, and traditional tattooing has been part of its identity since that era, with bold lines, solid black, and a classic palette of red, green, yellow, and blue. The studio has built a reputation as one of Manhattan's most in-demand shops, having tattooed notable clients over the years. Its roster of artists brings a wide range of specialties, including Japanese tattooing, black and gray work, and fineline designs, giving clients access to both traditional craftsmanship and modern custom artistry under one roof.
The team welcomes walk-ins for small to medium tattoos, flash designs, and spontaneous ideas, while larger or custom pieces are best handled through a booked appointment with a chosen artist. Artists honor the visual language of Japanese tattooing while adapting designs to each client's vision, and the black and gray specialists blend technical precision with creative shading for portraits, animals, and large-scale projects. Fineline work rounds out the offerings, emphasizing delicate needlework and clean execution for minimal, detailed pieces. With a strong lineup of resident artists, Fun City continues to carry forward its long history in New York's East Village tattoo scene.
