Anchors End Tattoo is Duluth's original tattoo shop, founded in 2003 by Joseph John with the vision of offering technically sound, artistic, and clean tattoos without attitude. Known as the oldest and best-known tattoo shop in the northland, it has grown into a team supported by fellow tattooers, some of whom have gone on to open their own studios while carrying forward the same standards. The Duluth location houses a full roster of tattoo artists and piercers, offering both tattooing and piercing services within a clean, professional environment.
With over 50 years of combined experience among its artists, the studio emphasizes continued education, regularly attending national and international conventions to sharpen technical and artistic skills. It maintains rigorous standards in bloodborne pathogen prevention and tattoo application, prioritizing client relationships over "rockstar" ego. The staff is trained not only in artistic craftsmanship but also in strong customer care, creating a welcoming, low-attitude atmosphere for clients. Located in downtown Duluth, Minnesota, the shop is open Monday through Saturday and continues to uphold the founder's original mission: clean, skilled, and genuinely friendly tattooing.
