Off Hand Tattoo is a walk-in tattoo shop in the Old Port neighborhood of Portland, Maine, opened in June 2025 on the cobblestoned Wharf Street. The studio was founded by Doug Landry and Adam Gray, whose combined 38 years of tattooing experience across the country shaped their vision for the shop. Their goal was to fill a gap in the local scene for a traditional-style walk-in shop, honoring old tattooing traditions while building something new in Portland's Old Port.
Walk-ins are welcomed all day, with tattooers happy to talk through the history of Portland and its tattoo scene while they work. The shop describes itself as a place for all walks of life, with no egos and a genuinely welcoming atmosphere. Rooted in classic, traditional-style tattooing, Off Hand Tattoo blends respect for the craft's roots with a fresh, community-driven energy on Portland's historic waterfront streets.
