Dogstar Tattoo Company has been a fixture in Durham, North Carolina since 1997, making it the city's oldest tattoo shop. The studio is woman artist owned and operated, offering custom tattoo work alongside fine jewelry and piercing services under one roof. Clients can book tattoo appointments online or stop by for a piercing, with the shop also handling tattoo deposits and piercing bookings through separate dedicated channels for convenience.
The studio operates on a hybrid model, primarily working by appointment while welcoming walk-ins whenever the schedule allows, operating on a first come, first served basis for those without a set time. It keeps generous hours, open seven days a week from 11 am to 7 pm, making it accessible throughout the week. For clients under 18, or those booking a piercing for a minor, an ID requirements form must be completed before the appointment. The team shares its latest tattoo and piercing work through its active Instagram presence, giving visitors an up-to-date look at the shop's ongoing projects and studio atmosphere.
