Tahiti Felix's Master Tattoo and Museum has operated in San Diego, California since 1949, making it the oldest continuously running tattoo parlor on the west coast and the oldest west of the Mississippi River. It was founded by "Tahiti Felix" Lynch, who apprenticed under tattoo artist Mac McKeaver at the famed Pike in Long Beach during the late 1930s before opening his own shop in San Diego after World War II. Remaining family owned and operated ever since, the studio has moved only seven times in its history, always staying within a few blocks of its original downtown location, and its current home on 5th Avenue also houses San Diego's only tattoo museum.
The shop specializes in classic traditional Americana tattooing alongside complete custom work across many other styles. Its team includes resident artists Painless Al Avila, Chris Sias, Nick Galaura, Joshua Magnuson, Tanner Burlile, and Tahiti Gil Taimana, plus recurring guest artists Dave Bobrick and Joe Paul. Open every day from noon to 7pm, the studio welcomes both walk-ins and scheduled appointments, carrying forward decades of San Diego tattoo history under one roof.
