The Hive Tattoo

Hive Tattoo is a tattoo and art atelier located in the old town of Salzburg, Austria, founded by artist Derek Entenmann. Rather than functioning as a walk-in shop with flash sheets on the wall, Hive builds every piece around a personal consultation, translating a client's story, references, and body into a one-off design that is drawn and tattooed only once. Derek has been tattooing since 2008, has worked internationally at conventions across the US and Europe, and has served as a sponsored artist for brands including World Famous Ink, Hustle Butter Deluxe, and Cheyenne, as well as a resident artist aboard Virgin Voyages cruise ships.

The studio's work moves across abstract composition, geometric design, graphic linework and halftones, watercolor, and large-scale projects such as full and half sleeves, treating these approaches as tools rather than fixed categories to shape a visual language suited to each idea. Sessions are booked exclusively for one project at a time, with the studio's space reserved fully for that client, and every tattoo comes with clear aftercare guidance plus an included touch-up session should healing require it. Cover-ups are also designed individually to integrate with or transform existing work, discussed directly during the consultation.
