Primitive Tattoo

Primitive Tattoo has been part of Perth's tattoo scene since 1997, earning a reputation as one of Western Australia's premier studios. The team brings together resident and guest artists with a combined total of more than 93 years of tattoo experience, offering specialties that range from Japanese and Tebori traditional hand tattooing to mandala, dragon, koi, black and grey, realism, portrait, watercolour, script, and hand poke work. Beyond tattooing, the studio also provides basic to advanced piercings, including genital piercing, and body branding, making it a versatile hub for custom body art in the southern hemisphere.

The studio is led by Marc Pinto, who has more than 23 years of experience in traditional Japanese Tebori and machine tattooing, piercing and branding, and who has helped shape the careers of numerous international artists during their time working there. Clients can choose custom designs of any scale, from small pieces to full sleeves and back work, within a space that emphasizes hygiene, sterilised single-use equipment, and advanced technique. Over more than two decades, the studio has served upwards of 10,000 customers, building its name in Perth on craftsmanship, consistency, and a welcoming, upbeat atmosphere.
