Explosive Ink Tattoo has been serving the Wisconsin and Illinois Stateline area since 2007, built on a foundation of quality tattoos and customer satisfaction. Located in Salem Lakes, Wisconsin, the studio is run by husband-and-wife team Bret and Lisa Jensen, with Bret handling the artistry and Lisa managing client consultations, scheduling, and day-to-day operations. Bret brings over two decades of tattooing experience to every session, having completed a three-year apprenticeship before refining his craft at another studio and eventually launching his own shop. He specializes in original concept work, flash designs, and cover-ups of any size or style, carefully planning content, placement, and sizing to ensure lasting results.
The studio uses professionally produced, vegan tattoo inks that undergo quality testing, sourced from trusted, reputable brands, paired with high-quality coil machines. Cleanliness and safety are priorities, with annual certification in OSHA and bloodborne pathogen standards and a Wisconsin tattoo license in place. The shop has also been accredited by the Better Business Bureau since 2017. Clients must be 18 or older per Wisconsin state law, with no exceptions. Cash, credit, and debit payments are accepted, and the team welcomes collaboration with clients throughout the design and planning process for their next tattoo.
