Vermont has strict licensing requirements for tattoo artists and body art studios.
Licensing & Training
- Artists must obtain a Tattoo Artist License from the Vermont Office of Professional Regulation.
- Completion of a bloodborne pathogens training course is required.
- Artists must demonstrate knowledge of sanitation and sterilization procedures.
Studio & Health Regulations
- Studios must obtain a Body Art Facility License and pass state health inspections.
- Strict sanitation laws, including the use of an autoclave, must be followed.
- Studios must maintain records of all tattoo procedures.
Age Restrictions
- Minors under 18 years old may be tattooed with the written consent of a parent or guardian (26 V.S.A. § 4102(c)).
