Licensing & Training
- Tattoo artists are generally required to register their business with local authorities.
- Health and safety training is recommended but not mandatory.
- Some cities require tattoo studios to obtain a business license and pass a health inspection.
Studio & Health Regulations
- Studios must follow sanitation guidelines set by local health authorities.
- Proper sterilization of equipment using an autoclave is strongly recommended.
- Clients should receive aftercare instructions to prevent infections.
Age Restrictions
- Since a June 2022 nationwide regulation, tattooing anyone under 18 is prohibited across all of China, even with parental consent. Parents who own tattoo shops are barred from tattooing their own children.
