Licensing & Training

  • Artists must obtain a Body Art, Body Piercing, and Tattoo License from the Washington State Department of Licensing.
  • Completion of a state-approved bloodborne pathogens training course is required.
  • Artists must renew their license every two years.

Studio & Health Regulations

  • Studios must obtain a Body Art Facility License and pass regular inspections.
  • Strict sterilization protocols must be followed, including the use of an autoclave.
  • All tattooing procedures must be performed using single-use needles and disposable gloves.

Age Restrictions

  • Minors under 18 years old cannot receive tattoos, even with parental consent.
