Licensing & Training
- All tattoo artists must be registered with the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services.
- Completion of a bloodborne pathogens training course is mandatory.
- Shops must have a licensed tattoo artist on-site at all times.
Studio & Health Standards
- Tattoo studios must be inspected and licensed by the local health department.
- Strict sanitation procedures must be followed, including autoclave sterilization of all reusable equipment.
- Single-use gloves and needles are required for each procedure.
Age Restrictions
- Minors under 16 years old cannot receive tattoos under any circumstances.
- Minors 16-17 years old require written parental consent.
